Building a Ridgeback®: The benefits outweigh the cost. The results of the Rangers Valley trial, where partially covered housing in the final 100 days boosted cattle performance – as presented by Dr Melissa George at BeefEx’s R&D session.
RESEARCH results from the latest shade and shelter trials will headline a free industry webinar, focusing on the benefits of covered housing for livestock.
Hosted by the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association and Meat and Livestock Australia, the webinar – on June 12 – will draw on animal performance and welfare data from stock housed beneath a Ridgeback®, which partially covers some of the yards at Rangers Valley feedlot in NSW.
In addition to sharing findings from the Rangers Valley MLA research, industry experts – such as Bovine Dynamics Veterinary Consultant and Research Scientist Dr Melissa George – will join lot feeders to discuss their experiences with retrofitting shade and shelter to existing feedlot pens.
This webinar comes as ALFA, and lot feeders, work towards the 2026 industry goal of providing shade for all feedlot cattle.
Entegra – a webinar sponsor – will also share airflow modelling of its specialised Ridgeback® completed by aerospace engineers, as well as insights from lot feeders benefiting from patented Ridgeback® technology in their businesses.
Other webinar speakers include MLA Feedlot Project Manager Matt Van der Saag, Chris Gibson from Long Gully Feedlot in Victoria and MLA Program Manager – Feedlot Dr Joe McMeniman.
The ALFA and MLA webinar will begin at 3pm (AEST) on Wednesday June 12, 2024.
The webinar is free.
Registration is essential.
