Heat Load Management
Exclusively developed by Entegra, the patented Ridgeback® design improves natural ventilation by over 20% and reduces radiant heat, helping to create a cooler environment for livestock. This reduction in heat stress supports better feed intake, weight gain, and lower water use.
Designed with both animal welfare and practical feedlot performance in mind, the Ridgeback® directly contributes to improved carcass weights and consistent productivity. It’s a proven solution for producers looking to manage heat load more effectively and run a more efficient operation
Respiratory Health
The Ridgeback® structure reduces the factors that contribute to respiratory illness in cattle by driving consistent movement of fresh conditions through the enclosure. This steady turnover helps limit dust, moisture, and gas build-up—elements linked to Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD), a leading cause of feedlot mortality.
By preventing the stagnation that allows harmful compounds and bacteria to accumulate, the Ridgeback® creates a cleaner, drier environment that supports respiratory health and more consistent outcomes across the herd.
Proven Performance
Independent trials have highlighted the productivity benefits of fixed, weatherproof infrastructure, with the Ridgeback® leading among them. In 2023, Teys Australia trialled shade structures at its Charlton feedlot. Results, independently analysed by Dr Angela Lees (University of Queensland), showed cattle under the Ridgeback® gained 0.2 kg per head per day—outperforming standard waterproof shade at 0.16 kg.
Supporting research from UNE and UQ Gatton reported cattle under waterproof shelters were 12 kg heavier at exit than those under shade cloth. These findings reinforce the Ridgeback® as a proven driver of daily gain, carcass weight, and commercial return.
